What's littering Britain?
A nationwide survey to identify Britain's worst littered brands
What's the big idea?
A nationwide survey, conducted by volunteer litter pickers, to identify Britain's worst littered brands.

What's littering Britain survey Every litterpicker knows that litter is dominated by a small number of food and drinks brands, but we need reliable, authorative statistics to back this up. By collating data from a large number of litter pickers from across the country, we can produce a definitive picture of which brands are littering Britain the most. The report will be used to highlight the problem in the media and put pressure on the worst brands to do more to prevent their product being littered.

Safety
Sorting and counting the litter isn't as dirty and yucky as it might appear (just a bit smelly), but it is as well to follow these guidelines to stay safe:
  • Don't pick any litter that will be unsafe or unpleasant when you come to sort it later, e.g. broken glass, condoms.
  • Wear a pair of stout gloves
  • Take care when handling cans and plastic bottles, particularly if you have picked them from an urban environment - drug addicts have been known to place their syringes in these containers.
